Cameron's passing has really hit me. We shared a dram @The Caladonian Pub here in Toronto in the spring. Several of us from XMarks were there. This is truly very bad news. My sincere condolences go out to his wife and family.
Herewith, the obit notice from the Toronto Star:

CAMERON DOUGLAS CAMPBELL MA History - Trinity College, University of Toronto At the age of 57, after a courageous nine year battle with cancer, .Cam passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 with his family at his side. throughout his life, Cam demonstrated his love for family and friends, a zest for life and a passion for knowledge. Devoted and loving husband to Laura, and proud father to Elizabeth, Jocelyn and Ian. Eldest son to Muriel and Jack (d. 1999), brother to John F., fondly remembered as brother-in-law to Cathy, Susanne, Spencer, and David, and uncle to Gillian, Carolyn, Peter and Heather. Educated at University of Toronto, Cam's connection to his Hart House alumnae friends was strong where he enjoyed their athletic competitive camaraderie. Cameron spent his career in communications and public affairs at Ontario Power Generation (Ontario Hydro) as Editor of the corporate newspaper, rising to the position of Senior Communications Advisor, where he formed many lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. In the 1990's his public service included his role as VP Communications for the Atlantic Council of Canada, where he spoke on NATO issues. Cam's life-long passion for cross country skiing and cycling was instilled in his children. In 2008 Cam was proud to be the radio voice for the inaugural Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer after which he was recognized by being awarded The Power Within Award by OPG. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Christine Chen, and staff, Ellen and Amy, and to the palliative care staff at Princess Margaret.
