    X-Kilt Help

I need some help. I have read and searched the site but have not found my answer. I am making the x-kilt for my son for his birthday to wear at Burning Man and my time is running out. I am not understanding how the under apron pleat works into the kilt. I have marked, hemmed and sewn down all the pleats and am now ready to add the velcro strip to the over apron. I am not getting the concept of the under apron pleat and how this works. Can someone help me?
Looking forward to a response with much appreciation.

If you don't (yet) have a copy of the Art of Kiltmaking, try downloading a copy of the box-pleat supplement, by Matt Newsome - it has drawings of kilt lay-out ; being a visual learner, I find those sort of aids very helpful - hope this will help you better understand the underapron pleat. Be warned: it is very easy to catch kiltmaking mania

Thank you for the resource. I was able to go to the box pleat addendum and find some help. I am at the point of attaching velcro strip and it appeared the extra fabric would cover part of the velcro. I believe this resorce will help.

Sounds as if you may be working from an older copy of the XKilt manual. There was an error in the "first edition" which would result in the velcro being behind one of the pleats. This error was corrected in the most recent release. Make sure you have the XKilt manual that includes my Reverse Kingussie addendum -- that is the latest and greatest.
