My latest attempt
This is my third attempt at a traditional hand sewn kilt. I made an X-Kilt before this one and accidentally used those measurements for this kilt. I didn't realized I'd made a mistake until it was too late. I'd already cut out the excess from the fell. This means that the fell is two inches too short but I think the end result is good enough considering the mistake I made. The tartan is Bath from Marton Mills in PV. This one is actually wearable which can't be said for my last two attempts. Many thanks to everyone who commented on my last attempt and helped me correct mistakes that were made on it.

What the fell? Looks great!
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

Well done, it looks like you got the fit right and the pleats are hanging nicely.

Congratulations on your completed project Aspiringloser!
I have neither the talent, nor the patience to attempt such an undertaking, so am reluctant to comment, but the pleats appear to me to be hanging a bit diagonally (high right to low left). Perhaps it's just the photo.
Regardless, well done you for all your hard work.

Looks to me like the sidewalk is sloping to the left. Gravity is the culprit...

Amazing what you can learn from a couple of failed attempts, isn't it? I had three.
And one thing I learned from those three is that I'd rather have too short a fell than a long one - two of my failed attempts had too long of a fell and it really messed with the way the pleats hung.
This kilt looks awesome. I really appreciate the casual outfit, too. You do a good job making the kilt clothing instead of costume.
