Sorry that was unclear Baldy...I am trying to picture the brooch without the tartan...is it a hollowed out antler crown button and then a separate tine?

Hope this makes more sense! Thx, Lee

You nailed it, Lee. I used my router to take out the center, and then cleaned it up with a dremel. The cross-tine was just a spike from a whitetail. I am constantly surprised at the hardness of elk antler. It should last a long time.
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

    Thanks everyone,
I will bring my extras to the Estes Park Festival. We plan on being there the 9th-11th of Sept. I you want one of the elk brooches, or one of my extra bonnets, just let let me know where to meet.

Oh go ahead, splurge and buy it already! Leasing is so wishy-washy.

Sorry. . . I am mostly able to resist but it's late in the day here and that one was just too easy! [/OT]

    Very cool brooch BTW
