My first cuban ever was a cohiba and I dont remember them being that unpleasant... overrated yes, poorly rolled yes, but not as bad as your description. I have one in the humie now that will probably get smoked this weekend.

I'm having another Perdomo cuban bullet right now with a bellyfull of steak, a glencairn full of Tobermory, and some ridiculous good news swimming around in my head. And its not as hot out here as it has been... thats always good...

Yes, and I would never tell someone their cigar choice was inferior. I am not trying to throw off on someones choice, but the tastes I described are exactly what I taste when I smoke one. It's just for me Cohiba hits me nastily. Its like Wexford Ale. I am a beer lover and I always say the worst beer I ever had was pretty darn good, however Wexford Ale makes me (literally) gag. I have tried to like Cohiba, but can't do it. That said I love my brothers that do enjoy it, and would love to smoke a cigar with them....just not one of their Cohibas
All that said, Ihave been lucky with Cohibas in that, while I can't stand the taste the few I have had were rolled well, something I can't always say for my beloved Montecristo.

I have been liking the Casa Magna, but anything from Manuel Quesada is usually good, and I really like the oily Colorado wrapper.

Original Backwoods have been a longtime friend of mine, however, I don't smoke too often now unless camping--even then very rarely.

I have a friend who is a huge lover of pipes, I have yet to try pipe smoking (not saying I ever will) but if I do I know exactly the pipe for me...

Try Rattray's Old Gowrie. It is one of their other Virginia tobaccos, a little fresher taste than the more aged Marlin flake
Yes it is on the list to try... I've got a few in the chest to get through first though.

Red Rapparee is said to burn rather like a fine cigar and I have to say I did enjoy it.

I DIDN'T know of that one by Twain! I love Twain, and found that a revelation. Thank you so much for providing that.
