Kilts on TV

I'm sad to say that I watched the finale of "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" on Fox. I wasn't paying much attention, I just left the tv on after Seinfeld reruns (seriously, I don't usually watch that kind of crap)and I noticed that the two brothers of the girl who was getting married (well not really married) were wearing traditional kilts and I heard what sounded like Irish/Uillean pipes playing for a little. Just though I'd share that with you guys.

Someone on Tom's mentioned that both the brothers had their kilts on backwards.

My wife and I watch just because the preview showed them in kilts. The kilts were on backwards and the cut was about 3 inches too long.

As my wife keeps reminding me..."It's only Hollywood, not real life!"

I didn't notice that, I only saw them sitting down and not for very long.

I saw a kilt on the news tonight, unfortunately it was on one of two guys getting "married" and the item was related to George Bush wanting to stop homosexual marriages.

Oh well, at least there was a kilt there.

I've got no problem with gay guys wearing a kilt. We know several at Tom's who do the job very well. Ham and John A spring to mind. Both gentlemen and smart dressers. The fact that they're gay is surely irrelevant.

As for gay marriages, that's a far too controversial issue to comment on, but I know the 'church' tends to take a dim view on homosexuality generally. Your tone suggests you, yourself, are against the idea.

Al, my dissappointment was the link between the public showing of the kilt (on TV) and the news event content, and yes I'm with George Bush on this issue and admire him for his stand. Like him, I stand for Christian moral values on this issue (please don't assume that means I agree with all that the President does).

This is probably not the place to enter such controversy, but that is my belief.

I'm not spoiling for a fight here, Graham. I know there is great divide on opinion over gay marriages/homosexuality and the like. Frankly, I've no strong feelings either way. I don't see any harm in it, morally or otherwise. If the guy looked good in his kilt, where's the problem? Does the setting really matter?

My stance on religion is probably agnostic. I marvel at the natural power of creation and the universe and haven't dismissed the possibility of a greater being. I consider myself a good citizen and live by a moral code based on what we read in the scriptures.

I prefer my meditations to be private. I don't like set services - to me they are cold and hollow. A woodland walk on a walm spring day is far more spiritual than being in a sparsely filled, cold building, with a group of dull people and a minister you can't hear properly. (My experience of youth)

As for an afterlife. We'll never know for sure until we draw our last breath. I want to believe in life after death, we all crave immortality, but I'm not convinced.
