Lordy Lordy Lordy - the kilt police do congretate at gatherings. Once had a kilt cop tell me I had no right to wear a tartan that Lochcarron and others have mass produced for years. Go figure.

My clinical guess is that kilt police were raised in chaotic homes as children where the rules were constantly changing (i.e. drunk or crazy parents - or both). So, as adults they tend to cling to rules for safety and any violation of the rules threatens them with a return to chaos - at least at their subconscious level. So screw them - they need to be seeking a therapist for help with their childhood issues, not accosting kilties at gatherings and berating them for violating "their perception of the rules."
