And what if you have small, bony knees like me? You'd be talking 1/8" to 1/4" difference between "horribly wrong" and "the only acceptable way". Sometimes it's hard to tell it's at my knee instead of just below the middle because of my bony limbs. I would have asked him where his kilt was.

Yes, in my high school it was the "chair test:" kneel on a chair, and if it touched the chair, it was OK. Out of school hours, an 18-inch miniskirt was "pushing the envelope."

At that time, girls were not allowed to wear pants at all (to school), and no one was allowed to wear jeans.

There, I admit to being a lazy loser full-of-excuses Mom! (and yes, I pulled those kilts up high!)

I don't have an issue with kids wearing clothes slightly too large, which is why I noted that when counting those who wore their kilts below the knee I didn't count kids. They grow so fast that the clothes will soon be too small. So, for a brief period of time, their kilts will be quite proper in length!

I was also being generous in not counting band members since many bands "issue" the kilts to its members and they may not fit quite right. I also didn't count sport kilts and utilikilts since they are meant to be worn a bit differently than the traditional kilt. If I had counted these, my numbers may have been more like 1:6 (or higher) instead of 1:4.

Boy, that brings back memories. I went to an American high school in England in the late 60s when the mini-skirt was quite the fashion, especially there. Teachers would stop the girls and measure their skirt length. Girls could only wear pants if they were part of a matched pants suit, and absolutely no one was allowed to wear jeans at any time, and t-shirts and shorts were strictly for PE.

You handled that Kilt Police men well , I would have lost it as I went to a Game in Ring Gold Georgia this last week end and there are a lot of Good OL Boys there and I could not imgaine anyone telling them how to wear a KIlt ,
They would string him up. lol

Those standard red flashes were given to me by a very good friend long before I got my first kilt and have been a staple of my wardrobe for years. I do have red garter ties from the STM but alas they weren't quite the same quality (they unravelled a bit) as my often worn lovett green ones or yellow pair also purchased from Matt. So I seldom wear them.

This picture was taken shortly after my SCD class' demonstration team performance as I am still wearing my white ghillie shirt.

Personally I much prefer my standard attire

Other than the jerk patrol, it sounds like it was a good time. The last time I was at the Pleasanton Games, was 2004. Always had a good time there.

Ron...meant to respond to this yesterday, but I guess I got sidetracked. I got the instructions on how to make them from a combination of Youtube videos and Arlen's knitting blog. I knew nothing about knitting...but learned how to cast on and do a garter stitch by watching a Youtube video or two. Then I learned how to make the fringe from Arlen's blog that I think I found the link for on this thread.
