Why not save enough for a laird's plaid? I fear the 9 oz is pretty light for a kilt--but what do I know--but it would probably be great for a plaid on a cool day.
It was originally bought for a great kilt... But times and tastes change...
With some of the temps being in the 100+ range recently in MO 9oz might have been ideal... As long as i avoid the wind... 
I'm not sure i'm up to the task of making a kilt though... So might have to find someone who can knock me one up cheaply...
