Pretty much the same for me. I worn mine to work, Scottish events, kilt nights, Celtic concerts, and just because I feel like it.

I have worn my kilt in most places I've been and on very many occasions since the age of three. I often wear it to Church. I have worn it to graduate from University, to get married, family and friend's weddings, Burns Suppers, New Year, Christmas, black-tie functions, Highland Games, Scotland Rugby Internationals at Murrayfield, with my uniform when I was a Scout. I have never worn my kilt to a funeral, as both my daywear kilt-jackets have always been lovat green not dark or black. My parents ran a small country hotel (in Scotland) for nine years, when I wore the kilt most evenings to serve behind the bar.

To work at the office (when I was a therapist - not now that I manage our detox unit where it gets grubby). Around town to the post office, supermarket, big box store, paying bills, going out to dinner - yes on dates - always wear kilts on dates. Long drives ( no more comfortable way to drive), on airliners, hiking, raft trips (flatwater), scenic boat trips, on vacation - even in Mexico. Wear kilts to go to the doctor and to donate blood. Wear kilts to conferences where I'll be sitting all day, day after day. I wear kilts when camping. And of course wear kilts to highland games and celtic events. But also wear them to Native American pow-wows and when visiting reservations. Wear my leather RKilts in foul and cold weather. Wear my USA Kilts casuals in hot humid weather. Wear my hand sewn wool, dress Freedom Kilt, and USA Kilt semi-traditionals in most any weather.

Isle of Skye USA Kilts Casual at the Mesquite, Nevada Pow Wow last year on a very hot and humid day. Worked great.

I wear one of my 3 USA Casual kilts when driving my RV (motorhome), driving or riding in my car, going out to dinner, shopping, doing errands, visiting Dollywood (when not working there). I wear my 8 yd House of Edgar Wallace kilt or 4 yd Clan Claus (STA ITI # 7869) wool kilt to Scottish and Celtic games.

And now I have my new 16 oz 5 yd wool kilt (Batley, Maple Leaf) from Rocky (USAKilts) to wear for many of the, out and about, activities listed above, including kilt meet-ups and games when Clan Wallace or Clan Claus Society tents are not there.

I mostly wore a tartan kilt on a few celebratory days a year, and, when in town, tried to get pictures. That doesn't count putting together my kilt outfit to get pictures.

One spring, I wore the canvas kilt daily to do light gardening for a month, then on and off. I also wore it during some excursions to a now gone ceramics lab.

From time to time, I wore a kilt for an outdoor, evening event with a small bonfire of sorts. I seem to remember wearing the tartan wool at least once, but also wore the canvas kilt more than once. That would be in the fall and again in the very late winter/early spring. I usually wore the canvas around fire for safety, both of the kilt and me, and the same goes for the gardening.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Never wore one before July 2011. Got married in a kilt in July. I wear one to work now one or two days each week - Fridays for sure. I wear a kilt when we go out in the evenings or on weekends. While the tux is still an option for me, I will wear the kilt instead, as the event dictates.

    Ciao!

Shopping, the movies, the library, restaurants.... anywhere I want to, except my work because they won't let me.
