Your Mission, Should you choose to accept it...
Hey Guys,
We're coming down the home stretch on a brand new website and I am going to be asking Xmarks for a little bit for some help if you'd like to see the new site before it launches...
WHAT I CURRENTLY NEED: The site runs great in Firefox and Chrome and I.E. 9, but OLDER versions of Internet Explorer aren't doing too great. If you are running an older version of I.E. and WANT to help, drop me an email.
How can you tell what version of I.E. you're running? Up near the address bar, you'll see "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, HELP". Click on HELP. When you get the dropdown, the last one says "About Internet Explorer". Click that and it'll tell you the "Version" you're running. If you're running the following version or OLDER and want to help, we'd love to have you: 8.0.6001.18702
What we'll need is the following (in an email to me... rocky@usakilts.com ):
Name
Phone #
State you live in (or just your time zone)
Best time of day to call
I'm only giving this info to our web guy (Rob S.) who will contact you when he needs to see how fast things are going in I.E.
For those members who have been up here for a long time (4 years or so), you'll remember that we ran a promotion when we launched the last site asking people to Quality Check the site and the member with the best list (as determined by me) got a free Casual Kilt. We're going to be running that same thing again (but this request is not part of it) within a few weeks for those who are interested.

Let me know if you need Mac browser viewings, in Chrome or Safari. Considering I start a new job in just a couple days, I won't have access to any Windows systems with older versions (as far as I know).
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

Will do. I'm pretty sure Rob has a Mac (as well as a dozen other computers) to check it, but if not, I'll add that to my list.

Send me an email with your details if you don't mind chatting to our web guy for a bit and I'll forward the details to him. He PROBABLY won't call for a couple days (bigger fires to put out right now), but we are looking for a bit of 'speed feedback' soon (how quickly does the page load kind of thing).

Think your IT support could use a dial-up user with a slow (33.6bps or slower) connection?

You could always try to view the website with an abacus... maybe posting to XMarks with a stone tablet and chisel.
I jest, I jest, please understand...

Oh please. I'm way past using an abacus.
I have a slide rule.
