The Famous Grouse & Black Grouse
So I see the Black Grouse is available in the states. Anyone tried it? Thoughts?
Also, what's the consensus on The Famous Grouse? Supposedly it's one of the most popular blends in Scotland, but Budweiser is technically one of the most popular beers in the states. That doesn't mean its very good...

Famous Grouse is regarded by many over here as probably the best of the blends. The Black grouse is in my experience not often seen , in these parts of the UK anyway.

Jock, what's the consensus on Te Bheag? It's my favourite blend so far.

Oh gosh Bill, you are starting a conversation with no end! Yes I see it about and if I am offered it, I am very happy to sip it, I like the Skye flavours, but I can't say it comes up too often in conversation.
I think it might be best to say that all whisky is good, but some are better than others. There is just one that consistently gets the thumbs down from almost everyone that sips it(just the once!), but as it mainly goes for export, well----------------- .

I haven't seen Black Grouse.
However, I've had Famous Grouse and if I were going to drink a blend, that would probably be it. Fortunately, I'm not.
Famous Grouse also have a vatted pure malt version out now, and THAT one tastes like whisky! See below:

I enjoy the Grouse as a mixer and as a straight blended whiskey. Never had the Black.

My favourite whisky is Ardbeg (since I became converted to Islay malts over Speyside or Northern malts, when it was probably The Macallan). IMHO Famous Grouse is probably the best of the blends.
