    Norcal on the pipes!

I just picked up a set of silver and imt. ivory Pettigrews and was trying out the plastic chanter that came with it. I've never in my life played a plastic chanter, so I recorded myself to hear the tonal quality. The drones on these pipes ROCK, but the chanter is thin and wispy, and it doesn't have the timbre a wooden chanter has. Anyway, here's an Irish jig called Paddy's Leather Breeches. Sorry for the heavy toe tap, but I play this for the Highland dancers, and you have to tap heavy so they can hear the beat over the pipes, so its a habit now when I play this tune-I don't even realize I'm doing it-Anyway, enjoy-

    Very nice Josh!

But I've always wanted to ask a bagpiper this, "Do you wear a kilt ?"

    Thanks for for the tune!

I agree about the timbre of the chanter. That one's not bad, but I'd prefer a wooden one.

What model of MacCallum is that? The MCC2 Solo, by chance? I've been thinking I need to get one of them, but you might have helped me make up my mind.

I'm not sure if its one of those MCC2's. The holes of been burned/bored on several of the notes meaning that the person who had this before must have been having some serious tonal issues with it. And about not wearing a kilt!! HAHA! I didn't think about it actually, but there is a joke there! I had to dye leather about 30 minutes before, and when I'm doing that kind of work, absolutely no kilt!!!
