    wow,
I was expecting shipping and import costs to be somewhere around the $50-$60 range. I wasn't expecting it to be that high.

Well, my total order was around US$900, that was for a kilt, argyle and vest. I was quite surprised by the cost myself.

If he has an APO address and his order is over $200, shipping from us would be free b/c the post office considers it an USA address.

I would be sending it to an APO address, I'm not gonna order until I get back from this deployment, but I'm stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I have an APO address baack there so it should still be considered the U.S. And so Rocky, expect to hear from me in about 2 months. It's a shame to have to wait so long to get kilted again.

You must be a Marine if you're stationed in Okinawa, huh?

Anyway, you could always order sooner and that way it will arrive shortly after you return home

That is why I have a CapitalOne card, and it is the oldest I own because they charge Zero international service charge. Don't let any one fool you, this is nothing but a ripoff by the banks and pure profit. In the US the bank lobby has thus far stymied government action on it.

    Hey deployed neighbor! Semper Fi.

I have over 25 of Rocky's kilts. I hesitated for a couple years before I bought my first one because all the stuff I read on this board was so good I figured the guys posting all had to be shills. Well, I finally "risked" an order and found out it all was true. I've now purchased all them others because of his quality and service.

A difference between USA Kilts and ScotWeb is that USA Kilts is a kiltmaker - where ScotWeb is a wholesaler/jobber that subcontracts the kiltmaking. I like to know the person making my kilts personally. If you look back at the complaint threads about ScotWeb many seem to be about miscommunication between the person who took the order and the kiltmaker who sewed up the kilt. Doesn't happen a lot - but going direct with your own kiltmaker its unlikely to happen at all.

So cool to have another kilted Zonie on board - even if you are away from home for now.

    Re: Scotweb Vs. USA Kilt

I really appreciate everyone's advice and comments. I also appreciate your thoughts and wishes to return home safely while I'm here. It's good to know there are people out there that have a genuine concern for us over here and support us like you all do. I want to say a sincer thank you to all.
SpartanTartan, I am a Marine 0321 and have been in Okinawa for about 4 years now. I've enjoyed my time over there but it's almost time to move on, and I'll be going back to beautiful AZ in about 6 months time. So Riverkilt when i get back maybe I'll see you at the PV Highland Games!
Basso, I was extremely close to joining the ADF when I was in Australia (I lived there for about 11 years). Alot of my friends from back in Perth joined the Defense Force right out of high school, Australians are outstanding soldiers.
Well, once again thank you to you all, your help is much appreciated.
