I did the same thing on a tartan sash for the wife. It took awhile, but I finally got it and it was fine.
Not much comfort I know, but it all came out OK in the end.

If you're getting rude answers, I'd sure cancel payment.

There is no excuse for a retailer to be rude with a customer. I would not stand for it as a consumer.

*** a rude person can completely take me away from any sale, even if its the best priced item on the market. i live by customer satisfaction and reviews.

Re: What should I do? I ordered from Clansmen Knitwaer
Kilt makers know they are hard to come by and they (not all ) but most like (Clansmen knitwear) dont care!!!!
I am wanting the kilts but I feel like if I cancel the order it would have come the next day. But Ralhp will not mail me or call me back to let me know.
Clansmen Knitwear has a bad repp, and thay seem not to care.
They told me to be Patient and Ii feel I have been.
So, I ask how long should some one wait for a Kilt?
and what is the longest any one has waited for a Kilt to be made, after you paid for it?

Re: What should I do? I ordered from Clansmen Knitwaer
Clansman Knitwear is NOT a kiltmaker - they're a middleman/jobber. They do have probably the worst reputation in the business - so many sad stories - and early on in my kilt addiction I was one of them.
Some companies make their living on taking advantage of new kilties and folks who catch the kilt bug at a highland games.
You will be ahead if you get anything back - at any time.
And that "anger" bit is a defense they use over and over again. I ordered a t-shirt with my clan crest on it. They sent it and it was the WRONG crest. When I called they got angry and accused me of not knowing my own clan crest and saying it was an "early" version of my clan crest - no - it was the WRONG crest.
Run from these folks. Run, run, run.
If you were able to assemble all their customers who were displeased with their service and quality it would be a large gathering. You probably saw that when you did a search on this board.
Thanks for posting though - I'd thought they'd gone out of business...

Waiting 6 weeks for a kilt can happen, especially if the tartan is back ordered, needs to be imported, gets caught in customs, etc.. The real problem you face is that you are doing business with a known 'offender'. You know what to expect. The good news, as it seems from your first post, is that you can cancel this order through your bank. Do yourself a favour and get out before it gets worse.

Re: What should I do? I ordered from Clansmen Knitwaer
For what it's worth, if you order your kilt through a retail company who is most likely having their kilt made by someone such as Lochcarron, House of Edgar, Strathmore, etc., then a 6 week wait is actually incredibly short. We tell people to expect 8 to 10 weeks when we order kilts from Scottish companies through the Scottish Tartans Museum.
So it could be that you were told a timeframe that was sooner than reasonable in an attempt to get your business and now they are having trouble delivering on that promise.

Re: What should I do? I ordered from Clansmen Knitwaer
Also file complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I see that they are now in Pittsburgh rather than in California. It took nearly a year to get my kilt from them. In that time, I think Ralph's mother or grandmother(can't remember from back in 04) died twice
After I filed a report (one of many about Clansman's business practices) I got my kilt. And, Ralph got really angry at me.
If you look them up on the BBB website you will see that they have an "F" rating. I have kind of made it one of my life goals to warn as many people about them as possible, and I have done so in sight of their tent at a Celtic Festival.
