Northern Meeting Ball
Some of you might like to see this clip from You Tube, taken up in Jock Scot's country at the Northern Meeting Ball. As with any Highland ball, stamina is of the essence. Enjoy!
PS. I believe they are dancing the Inverness Country Dance, aka Speed the Plough in some places.

Re: Northern Meeting Ball
Sandy, we really must organize our selves (and our wives!) and go over for next year's Northern Meeting Ball.

That sounds like a great idea, Scott! I'm up for it, and I doubt it would take much convincing to get Sara on board.

Re: Northern Meeting Ball
Observations?
1. A lot of hair sporrans
2. Almost NO white hose
3. A preponderance of PC coatees
4. A good number of men aren't wearing waistcoats
5. It's hard to find a poorly dressed person. The kilt in its native home is safe!

Sandy,
I was struck, as well, with the same observations.
I had anticipated more doublets...

Re: Northern Meeting Ball
Looks like everyone was having a great time. My problem would be, knowing the sequence of the dance and not making the wrong moves. With square dancing here in the U.S. there is a "caller" to keep you doing the right moves. Looks like fun once you learn it.

Re: Northern Meeting Ball
Nice post/link Sandy. Thanks. It's great to see people take the time to wear the kilt the way it was meant to be worn.
