Re: Where Do You Wear Your Kilt?
I wear my kilts to all sorts of social functions. I make use of the flexibility of the kilt as these range from casual to black tie. Oh, and I also wear it when I feel like it!

- Scotch tastings
- Renaissance Festival (Great kilt)
- Rabbie Burns Suppers (black tie)

I wear mine where ever I go except to bed, I don't want to wrinkle them you know.

Re: Where Do You Wear Your Kilt?
Find myself wearing mine more and more as time goes by. Not so much that I didn't feel comfortable wearing it before but now that I am all the way up to owning two kilts (I know, I know I promise to dive deeper into the disease as funds allow) I feel I can wear it more often without as much concern for what I do with my one and only kilt. I now see what other's here have obviously known for ages; nothing beats a kilt on a long hike. Also wear it out to dinner with friends, the pub, most wedding (folks that know me well enough to invite me know to specifically ask if they would prefer I not wear it), and just to run errands around town when the mood strikes me.

Re: Where Do You Wear Your Kilt?
I have been kilted for a little over a year. I find I wear the kilt about 3 times a month. As I have acquired 4 kilts now, I also find I am wearing the kilt more often. I wear the kilt to the office just a few times a year on special occasions - especially on Tartan Day. I wear it to church from time-to-time. I wear it to go out to dinner when the mood and circumstances suit me. I occasionally wear it to a party. I wearing to meetings of our local Caledonian society, to weddings, Burns Night, St. Andrew's Ball and other black tie events. In short, I wear it a bit here, there, and everywhere - just not every day.

Mark rode the public bus to college this morning, wearing his kilt. I didn't see him because he gets up so darn early, but he told me he was going to do that and the kilt is not in his room. Last night he wore it to a street-side memorial service for a schoolmate who died.
I guess one can wear a kilt wherever he pleases.

Re: Where Do You Wear Your Kilt?
Yes, you can wear a kilt pretty much wherever you want; (though sometimes it can be a bit impractical). You just need to be able to take a bit of (usually) good natured ribbing if you do. Ironically, the place you're most likely to get flak for it is in Scotland!

So it seems. I got interested in kilt wearing during a holiday in Scotland. My wife and I very much liked the country. But after having started wearing kilts I have never gone back there - due to the kilt and the told-about rather negative attitude to people, including foreigners wearing "their" kilt.

Re: Where Do You Wear Your Kilt?
I mostly wear my Maple Leaf (Burnett's & Struth 'casual') when leading WWI-related field trips in France and Belgium, although I also wear it occasionally here. The Highland Granite and Highland Cathedral box-pleated (Keltoi) kilts have been worn to the office, outdoors, in bars, to the local farmers' market, at black tie events - you name it. The Macbeth military box-pleat is heavier, and both looks and feels more formal, but will clearly get a lot of use as well, as will the next one - my first real "tank" - when it arrives. But the leather one is just for bars and other fun events, such as when my head was shaved for cancer research.
