Re: Doing ok with the typhon?
Yup. Biblical weather as usual. The last one hit pretty hard too, but we live in a fairly well protected valley as far as the typhoons go. I'm more concerned about the earth opening up and swallowing us whole in the next earthquake. (They really ARE a daily occurrence -- not exaggerating)...
But we've battened down the hatches and got our emergency kits on-hand either way.
I actually got in some surfing & bodyboarding two days ago, but it was too rough for me. The waves were huge and beat the living daylights outta me... That's what I get for messin' with the sea with an incoming storm.

Re: Doing ok with the typhon?
From the pictures I've seen and the stories of my fellow sailors Japan is a place so beautiful it is to be envied but it does seem to have some drawbacks.
Glad you're doing well.

Hope all will be ok over there, CDNSushi.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Re: Doing ok with the typhon?
An update, in case anyone's curious.
Typhoon Roke kicked the crap out of Southern Japan early this morning, and as it heads straight over Honshu, the city of Nagoya (Japan's second largest city) evacuated 80,000 people, and put an additional 1,000,000 on evacuation advisory. So far only 2 are confirmed dead due to landslides and flooding though.
Our city of Kofu is on heavy rain, flood and landslide warning, and gale advisory. All schools in the region (including as far as Tokyo and Chiba) are cancelled. But power is still up, so is the Internet, and so far we are staying good and dry here at home.

Re: Doing ok with the typhon?
Friend of mine in Yamagata (city) told me on Facebook live chat a few minutes ago that he's getting hammered. Expects to be safe enough, though, unless the ground starts doing that shaking thing again.
