    Sudsy's Kilted Pics

My current Avatar is from my first day wearing a kilt. July 4th, 2011. Its a Blackwatch Tartan Sportkilt. I got it in a hurry, as my Grandfather is on his deathbed, and I decided if I attend his funeral, it will be in a kilt. I wasn't sure I could get a Sutherland tartan in time, nor could afford it (but since he's still alive, its a possibility).

A friend took this picture of my wife and I at the start fo the 49th Equinox Marathon/Ultra-Marathon. My wife ran the Marathon on the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Team Hope (4h:24m! She's fast!). I ran the 40 mile/64k Ultra-Marathon course (10h:03m). We both ran in the Sportkilt Hiking Kilts.

Crumbs you two wear me out just reading about all that running! Anyway, well done!

Nice one Sudsy, I run ultras as well and my last six or so have all been kilted, I find it great the added ventelation helps prevent chaffing

Good to know! That dis-spells a myth that running kilted will cause chaffing! I still ended up using a friction fighting cream just to preempt issues on my run though... But everyone else seems to think that would be a problem. No issues there on my ultra, and it seems based on your experience it shouldn't be much of a problem for everyone else either!

so those runs are regimental? about ready to finish my first kilt and I do triathlons (no I will not be swimming in a kilt) but also do smaller (up to 1/2 marathon) runs and thought it would be a blast.. but the only concern was the chaffing of the manlyhood

    Re: Sudsy's Kilted Pics

I wore some shorts underneath, the Equinox is rather hilly, and I didn't want to get into any trouble... However, at home on the treadmill... No issues discovered either way, but certainly preempt chaffing the usual ways (petroleum jelly, or better yet, find some good silicon based stuff like Bodyglide or the Mission brand anti-friction cream, its much more resistant to sweat than the petroleum based stuff).

I love those VFF's! Due to the rocky terrain, and roots, I had to switch from KSO's to the KSO Trek Sport model for the thicker sole on the bottom...
