Re: Historically inspired knockaround kilt
Unfortunately it would not work.
There simply wasn't enough fabric to make a kilt for me, but at least my fiance liked the green fabric so it is becoming a skirt for her. I hope to have it done tonight.
She didnt like the other fabric so I will have to find a use for it.

Re: Historically inspired knockaround kilt
Extra fabric is all ways good to have around, From what I have seen you do ,I know you will make something Awsome with whatever you have on hand.
Keep up the good work ,as it is inspring to us all to make things ourself.

Great colours! They remind me of tweeds and tartan tweeds.

Will you have a significant strip of fabric from the centre of the pieces?
In the past, where I have had 60 inch wide fabric I have made the under apron from strips of that, carefully matched up, and so increased the amount of fabric for the pleats and apron.
I have also done a couple of kilts where I made the under apron from a dark toning fabric, from about two inches from the visible edge, when the length was rather skimpit.
Anne the Pleater :ootd:
that's a great idea

Re: Historically inspired knockaround kilt
Unfortunatly even doing this will not be enough. I have learned that I will need a minimum of 3 yards double with to make myself a kilt but my fiance will be getting a nice skirt.
