    Longer posts disappear

I've lost a few longer posts, ones that I wanted to deeply edit. Is there a time-frame in which you can work on one post? The shorter ones go through just fine.
    Thanks, Jocelyn

    Re: Longer posts disappear

That was happening a while back when the forum would "sign you off" after a time span of inactivity (it doesn't record your typing a post as "activity"). I think Steve, the forum owner, made some adjustments at the time -- hasn't happened to me lately, and nobody else seems to be chiming in on your post.

Are you being signed off as this happens, or is this some variation on the old issue?

As a work-around at the time, I would copy/save my word before hitting "post" just in case it disappeared.

    Re: Longer posts disappear

You are limited to 40,000 characters per post.

You are also limited to 10 pics per post.

There is also a time limit of 30 seconds between posts.

What appears may be happening is the editing part.
We do not have a time limit for editing posts currently, but the default in the software is 5 min. What may be happening is that as you edit and review your post the system may be having a conflict with its default. Especially if you are editing, reviewing, and re-editing for more than the default 5 min.

What I have found helpful when composing a post that I know I will be editing is to write the post in Word or any similar word processing program. I can do all my editing at leisure. I can keep an eye on the number of characters. And when I am satisfied I simply copy and paste into the forum.
