Re: Recipes we all can make!

talked to my dad about the SOS. This is how our convo went:

me: have you ever heard of SOS?
    dad: **** on a shingle?
me: yep. Some friends of mine gave me the recipe. They rememered it from the Corps.
dad: ask them what they recommend for "pogie bait"

he used a couple other military lingo as well "fart sack", "butt tape" (I grew up with that one), "pogie bait" and another word that is used for pogie bait but is actually the place where one gets said pogie bait

Thought you Marines would enjoy it

Re: Recipes we all can make!

My dad was retired Army and made SOS for breakfast all the time. When I was in Army boot camp, they served us SOS for breakfast one morning and I knew what it was as soon as I saw it. I think I impressed the cooks and the drill instructors. Now, I have to go to the nearest Denny's, becase that's the only place locally that serves it (on buttermilk biscuits instead of toast) unless I want to make my own.

This Marine suggests the following for pogie bait:

    1. Honey buns
    2. Snickers bars
    3. potoato chips, any brand
    4. Butterfingers
    5. Any brand of soft drink

Lay a few of these things around and the pogies will come running every time. Ask your dad.

Haha I just texted him this. He said "Yep. Especially the butterfingers."

This thread is soooooooo far from my understanding at the moment... Of course I grew up thinking biscuits and gravy was cookies and brown gravy, and couldnt understand why they insisted on eating it in every cowboy movie...

Well having eaten the american version (which would be similar to scones and white sauce in UK terms)... I recommend anyone who hasnt staying with the concept of a digestive and brown gravy...

Lol I think you're doing it wrong. Of course, I also consider grits to be a delicacy, so I suppose it might be me who's strange.

I'm making food with pumpkin and pumpkin seeds lately. Just throw it in the pot with the cactus.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
