Re: Meghan Walker's wedding plans
I used to ride a Clydesdale - Bonnie. I called her "Bonnie the Beast." Evey time she plonked one of those massive hooves on the ground, it popped right up her legs and up my spine.
I wouldn't be anxious to ryde a Clyde.

Re: Meghan Walker's wedding plans
let's see - sack of powdered chalk for getting the horse gleaming white - velvet saddle cloth with gold fringing to keep chalk off groom's clothing - four boxes of lanterns to hang in trees, ditto tiny silver boats with candles to float on the lake as backdrop for evening events Garstang morris men, cossack dancers, fire eater, jugglers, acrobats, Madam Fifi with Errol the python, sword dancers.
That should just about cover it.

Re: Meghan Walker's wedding plans
Incidentally I am marrying a young woman named Meghan next Saturday - to my own son!

Im definitely proud to be a full blooded geek BUT theres a fine line between being a fun geek and being an eye-rolling geek. Definitely love Game of Thrones, though. All it needed was Aragorn and it was pretty much made for me.

True; I was at a fantasy themed wedding in January and it was just...awkward. Too non-traditional and casual.
Not to derail the thread, but there's a bit of Aragorn in Jon Snow I think. Of course I haven't read "A Dance with Dragons" yet.
Back to the topic at hand, definitely keep the fantasy elements, just keep them subtle. Unless you can find a dragon. Then definitely get the dragon.

You see how it goes, Meghan? Now isn't this much more exciting than some plain old cookie-cutter wedding?
There was a member here (I can't remember whom) who hosted a wedding in his backyard. The bride's mother (or possibly somebody else) hung orchid blossoms, strung on fishing line, from the tree branches, and it looked really, really nice. Just remember to hang them really high up, so Bill's Clydesdale won't eat them.

I assume that you're at least speaking of an Episcopalian Clydesdale...!
