* raises an eyebrow * Epona ?
I'm a fan of costume weddings, sounds like fun.
I just finished reading that last Song of Ice and Fire book that came out, BTW. Ehh...

Re: Meghan Walker's wedding plans
In Japanese weddings the bride is brought in on a white horse. IIRC

Not to derail the thread, but there's a bit of Aragorn in Jon Snow I think. Of course I haven't read "A Dance with Dragons" yet.
Back to the topic at hand, definitely keep the fantasy elements, just keep them subtle. Unless you can find a dragon. Then definitely get the dragon.
oh heavens. Yeah, I wouldnt go for a fantasy theme. I think I would just want my wedding to reflect aspects of who I am as a person and as someone who loves fantasy stuff, I think my taste in just the basic decorations could reflect that. No need for actual fantasy theme. That's overkill sometimes.

There was a member here (I can't remember whom) who hosted a wedding in his backyard. The bride's mother (or possibly somebody else) hung orchid blossoms, strung on fishing line, from the tree branches, and it looked really, really nice. Just remember to hang them really high up, so Bill's Clydesdale won't eat them.
Oooo I love that idea!!
actually I truly do love Pleaters idea about the lanturns in trees...I might steal that.

You know, Meghan, even if this does get really goofy, you will get a few good ideas out of it too - maybe modified from the original comments, but nonetheless . . . .

You have no idea. A "knighting" ceremony for bride and groom, music from Lord of the Rings, a wedding cake shaped like a castle, and then we (I was in the band) got up and played old Country songs while everybody danced. Yeah...LotR and Johnny Cash don't mix well. Its what the bride wanted though.
Come to think of it, the bride's family was from Wisconsin.

I like this wedding dress and both me and this lady are built pretty much the same:
 its kinda plain though... maybe the sash could be tartan! she looks like a fairy
We still need a piper, food, bridesmaids dresses, grooms outfit, groomsmen outfits... hmmm...bouquet.
hahaa my poor future husband. He's going to ask me "what happened to all your talk about me getting to put in my two cents in the wedding planning?!" and I'll have to explain "sorry honey but the Xmarks guys already took care of it."
and I'd be honored
If you pay for my trip to Wisconsin , I would be glad to pipe at your wedding... Oh and Scotch you have to have a lot of Scotch!
