    Re: Meghan Walker's wedding plans

I will also interject one idea my wife had when we got married this summer. Forget a color scheme other than black and white because any other option would be hard to manage in the sea of varying tartan choices among the guests. There were 6 different tartans worn at our wedding and she couldn't see any way to make a color scheme other than black and white work.

none of my guests will be wearing tartan The only people in my family that are gung-ho about our tartan-wearin' heritage are my grandpa, his brother, his brothers sons, my uncle, and myself. My dad wouldnt be caught dead in a kilt

You guys came come and wear tartan though Make up for the lack of tartans from my family members. haha.

You may be on to something. How about having the ushers in tartan day wear, with one asking guests to 'please check their weapons', before entering? Get a few prop basket sabers, battle axes, etc., (Halloween supplies anyone?) and stock a small waste bin by the entrance.

Heck, if you wanted, you could have a whole pipe band there... XMarks the Scot Pipes and Drums. Coordinating (and paying for) the rehearsals and travel might be an issue, though.

However, there is a piper in WI (or he was there, anyway) that is a member of the forum - beloitpiper.

I like the look of that dress as well, and I agree that it seems to call for a flowered tiara (or a ring or laurel) at most, nothing jeweled. It also needs a bit of color, and a tartan sash would do nicely.

And BTW, Clydesdales do make a BIG mess. I was maching in a parade a couple of units behind one of the Anheuser-Busch wagons one time - that's all it took was ONE time - and we said NEVER behind horses again. The scoopers just couldn't keep up with production and I don't think anyone in the band escaped stepping in some effluent. That's another reason not to wear white hose with kilts.

Best wishes when the day comes.
    John

Since it looks like Father Bill, cruiser and I will be sampling holy water all day you might want to say your nuptials the night before.

That was at my son's wedding this past June. Here is a picture of the orchids

And this is the natural arch formed by the trees where the wedding was held.

The brides father and mother spent several days hanging the orchids from the trees. And about half of them had to be redone because a deer or something came through the little clearing and dragged quite a few off into the woods. I can just imagine some hunter watching as a buck walks by with orchids on his antlers.

Or at least very early in the day. Leads to more sampling time after the ceremony.
After we have sufficiently sampled I am also sure we can be convinced to join the charge over the hill that has been suggested.

That's a great dress, etherial and elegant.
You could do a lot with jewelry and hair flowers.
I'd do white orchids and an elaborate moonstne necklace. Something like this?
