    A new flask....

I have recently purchased a very nice, new Stainless steel whiskey flask. I've not owned a flask before and am not sure how to "break in" the flask.

Is their some thing I need to do to the flask before pouring in it's first whiskey?

Find yourself some of the best scotch you can afford... Pour a dram of scotch and enjoy..... become one with your flask.... fill flask ..... lick off all the scotch that overfills because you dont want to waste any.... pour another dram and admire your work.....

PS... basically make sure it is clean inside and use away

I would at the very least rinse it well with water...you could also rinse it with a neutral spirit alcohol, then rinse well with water. Main reason would be to clean out any possible residues from the manufacturing process.

First. you fill it with the finest single malt whisky you can afford. Then, you ship off to me for inspection. I will make sure it is completely safe for your use. Address to be provided once you tell me the brand of whisky. Thanks

A stainless steel flask will not require anything other than a good washing before you fill it with quality scotch. I like to go out on the town in a kilt, carrying my flask, and sipping a bit here and there, as a "break-in" procedure. Over the course of the evening, your flask will become a good accessory.

I would treat it like any other store bought metal or plastic container. Wash and rinse well before use. There may be some oil the manufacturer applied before shipping as a rust preventative and you will need to remove this before addin whiskey.

You should rinse with water before and after use, also I have been told that you should not keep whisky in it for more than 24 hours- never a problem for me!
