Re: The kind of media report we DON'T like to see

Guy was drunk, the kilt is irrelevant.

I've noticed this kind of media bias with a couple other subjects: motorcycles and postal workers. Headlines usually read like this:

"Three killed in traffic accident" vs "Motorcyclist dead in high speed accident"

"Ohio man convicted in burglary" vs "Postal worker guilty in theft"

Sounds to me like the only complaint is that he didn't keep wearing it ;-)

Re: The kind of media report we DON'T like to see

Would it be prudent for XMarks members to make a showing on the comments for the article, and point out the narrow-mindedness of the article focusing on the fact he'd worn the kilt before exposing himself?

I did leave a comment on the article under the name NGILL85, as follows -

Would these alarmists post the headline as "Pants-Wearing Man Charged With Indecent Exposure" if not for the kilt? I think not.
Seems there must be dozens or hundreds of cases of indecent exposure in the state of PA each year. Why was a garment that he technically wasn't even wearing once he was exposed singled out for the headline?

    Prudent? Maybe.
Do much good? Probably not. The article's already been written and published. Plus, it's been my experience that the comments sections of a lot of newspaper websites seem to exist solely to entice arguments.

Lets hope the Scotland national footbal team is never drawn against the USA at Upper Allen, the jails would not be big enough to hold the 'Show yer bums' legions from the Tartan Army

Re: The kind of media report we DON'T like to see

One thing about this warmed my heart. I looked at the website, and saw "WGAL" which meant it was from South eastern PA where I grew up, so for a short moment I thought of my family, who I see maybe once every two years.

Then I read the story..... warm fuzzy feelings all dismissed.
