Re: Kilted on Queen Mary 2 with a cigar!
I have been kilted on a cruise before with excellent results. I did the formal nights with black tie (see below), and wore the kilt casually as well at other times. I would suspect on Cunard, especially on a run from Southampton, that you will probably meet far more people with an appreciation and/or opinions on the kilt. Be prepared. And yes those are white hose (gasp).

I'm an avid cigar smoker and agree with WillieMacG comments. When I do these things I try to buy at least one or two cigars from the lounge even if I do not smoke them right then and there. Also I avoid pre-cutting cigars, it would be like pre-opening a beer and might dry the cigar out. Take your time and enjoy! Cheers

OMG! If the ship started to go down I'd head toward their humidor with a large bag. I always nip my cigar just before firing it up and usually carry them in a 3 cigar leather holder in my sporran. The prices are a tad steep on the cigars, but then again, Cubans are tough to get here in the states. They have the mystique about them sorta like Coors was about 30 years ago. Honduran or Nicaraguan are just as good or better. I'd drop a couple of bucks on a good Cuban Cohiba. Make it a 6/54 by the way.

I am surprised that any cruise line still allows smoking in internal areas.
Mind you I have not sailed with Cunard.

Re: Kilted on Queen Mary 2 with a cigar!
Returned from QM2 transatlantic crossing. Whent kilted on one of the formal nights. The full formal rig with dare I say fly plaid, and had some really pleasant comments. Especially from our Amerian Friends. The plaid brooch raised a lot of interest. One little girl was heard to whisper " I like his dress " I would definately go kilted on there again. Churchills cigar lounge was very nice but only attended there in my morning suit and also in my dinner jacket. My only wish is that I had worn my kilt out whilst in Las Vegas and New York. Maybe next time.
