Kilted waiters in Luss

I was at the small village of Luss on Loch Lomondside yesterday and we popped in for a coffee in the Coach House Coffee shop and were delighted to see that the 3 male waiters all wore their Loch Lomond and District tartan kilts, really nice tartan. All the crockery used in the restaurant has the same tartan livery on all items served to the customers.
It certainly is becoming quite common now to visit restaurants, hotels and pubs to find the staff kilted. Recently I have been in the Village Inn at Arrochar, McKays in Pitlochry, the Drovers Inn at Inverannan where staff have been kilted as well as the abstact kilt design for the doormen of the Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh.
Any members come up with more kilted establishments?

Well the waitresses at the Tilted Kilt chain of sports bars wear tartan miniskirts, but I'm not sure you'd call them kilts!

Considering that Luss is the ancestral seat of Clan Colquhoun, I'm surprised to see the use of district tartans instead of Colquhoun. Of course, I guess they would be stepping on the toes of the clan if they used a clan tartan for business marketing. It's good to hear that they're enthusiastic about wearing the kilt, though!

One wonders how a waiter keeps his kilt clean when it's worn every day for that kind of job...

A few years ago when there was a previous owner of the Drover's Inn at Inverannan, the lads that wore the kilts never bothered cleaning them and they looked fairly dirty and beraggled

I remember (this is some time ago) that the barkeeps at O'Riley's Pub in St. John's Newfoundland were kilted. If memory serves it was the Irish national tartan... It looked quite sharp!

The staff at the Kilt Pub in Sacramento wear their kilts while working. We "kilted" the place out a couple days before my son's Scottish wedding in July when about twenty of us (counting men and women) showed up for dinner and pints, most of the men kilted. The other guests were obviously pleased with the atmosphere!

I've been to that one - a major disappointment in minimal quality kilts. Had I worn my own, I would have looked oddly out of place because of its quality.

I must admit that would be my first thought. Unless, of course, they wore a cheaper acrylic kilt that could be washed after every shift.

The Royal MacDonald hotel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada used to have kilted doormen for many years, thought that appears to have been discontinued.

I've seen male bartenders at Doolin's Irish pub in Vancouver, BC, Canada wearing Utilikilts. They also have female staff wearing tartan kilted skirts.
