I'm playing the 'pipes for the wedding of a friend of mine. It's to be a costumed event, and I don't know know which will be scarier: the costumes or my playing.

Totally cool. I love costume weddings, and the more ridiculous an idiotic the costumes, the better.
Will you be dressed as a giant pumpkin, piperdbh?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

A giant pumpkin with a cat screeching inside... That's awesome!!

Ya, a friend gave me a cute teddy bear doll that has a pumpkin body, and I had been looking at it just before I read piperdbh's post. That's what came to mind, but I had also thought of piperdbh's watermelon shirt, so there was the image.

Well...since I am a night club owner, on Oct 28 we are having our Halloween party. Live band, contests, prizes. We are in Southern Colorado. PM me if you are in the neighborhood...I'll send you directions.

Re: Plans for Halloween or Other Celebrations of the Season?
Haloween is a great event at my house. About a week before, I invite friends over to carve pumpkins, toast the seeds (both sweet and savory) and serve mulled spiced wine, red wine or Scotch. Dessert is various pumpkin cookies or breads.
I make a huge beef stew, ladel it into bread bowls and serve it with a Caesar salad. After that, we watch classic horror movies and nibble on the pumpkin seeds and big bowls of popcorn.
It's an open house, so about 30 people come by throughout the evening, and it is so much fun! It's more of a celebration of fall and the coming of chilly weather. It makes me feel all warm and cosy inside.
On Halloween, I repeat the party for family and do lamb stew or a leg of lamb dinner.
Cheers, Jocelyn

No, Ted. You know that's just silly.
I plan to wear all black and go as a rotten banana.

I'll be dressing up for a teenager/high schooler friendly halloween party at my house. I think it's going to be fun.

Re: Plans for Halloween or Other Celebrations of the Season?
Halloween is my wife's birthday. As luck would have it, I will be flying to a conference that afternoon, and she isn't able to accompany me. Any suggestions for buying my way out of the dog house would be greatly appreciated.
