2011 Texas Ren-fest
I'm a little late getting to the photos, but here's some shots from opening day at the 37th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival.
It was a nice day for it, and there was a good turnout, but I did a lot of cruising around and meeting up with friends instead of taking a lot of pictures, but here's a few;

Here's me and the Girltourage right inside the gate.

some pipers tuning up.

Need to tell the giant Scottsman he's wearing his kilt a bit low...

And of course I took in the first Circa Paleo show of the season...

Kimberly and Jessica get things moving.

I ran into an old friend, CJ, but he lost his head....

2011 Texas Ren-fest part 2
Here's some shots from the second weekend at the Texas Ren-fest, the second weekend's theme is "1001 Dreams" where the fairies and other woodland creatures come out to play, but we just call it "Fairy weekend", always some good photo ops;

First thing, outside the gate I ran into my fairy friend Sandy. I decided to wear my X-Marks kilt, pin and badges that day.

First show of the day; Tartanic ! nothing like some pipes and drums at 10 AM to wake you up!

Lots of kilts out that day... I think this guy might be the chief of Clan MacTablecloth...

Here's some various takes on modern kilt wear. (OK, I really just wanted a shot of the girl on the left...)
On to the fairies and elves etc..

As usual, Z. A great tour through the Texas Faire.

Good to see the Vikings are still visiting.

Love those Viking leg warmers! Guess I'm not the only one.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

As we might say around here,
"They, for great day in the mornin'!"
I think I need to start going to Ren Faires.

Interesting to say the least.
I think's it's interesting to se so many fairies. In Newfoundland where I grew up, the fairies are not good spirits! I always head as a young lad, "come in before dark or the fairies will take you away!" If I remember correctly, it was the same in Ireland... Neat how notions change isn't it?
Looked like a goof fair in any case!!
