    Re: Your Halloween/Samhain traditions

Not sure what the wife and I will do yet this year. But it will be our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. Yes, we were married on Halloween. Probably dress up in one of my historical kits and go out bar hopping.

Thanks, Downunder Kilt. It's my understanding that AC/DC still lists him as a band member on their albums or something like that. Kind of fits with the theme of the thread.

As we live close by, we go over to Sleepy Hollow, by the old bridge and graveyard and wait for the Headless Horseman.

I've always wanted to make a pilgrimage to Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown & the Old Dutch Church.

    Re: Your Halloween/Samhain traditions

This olde geezer has two traditions.

First, turn out all the lights and go somewhere away from home until the kids are gone.

Second, if at home for the festivities do NOT offer any candy until the kids ASK for it. I wanna hear, "Trick or Treat!" before I part with the chocolate. Sometimes we just stand there and stare at each other until they remember - THEN I part with the goodies.

Love that first poem - thanks!

This. Mostly this. I'm usually on the road somewhere south of the border, or if I'm at home and the daughter is not with me, I'm holed up in the sewing room (where the computer is) with the house lights off.

What do you call a Hallowe'en scrooge anyway?

BigKahuna, I used to live near Fishkill, and commuted into the city. I passed Bear Mountain (West Point) everyday. Tarrytown is just perfect this time of year! I miss Fall in New York. The falling leaves, the errie wind, the old cemeteries give a spooky feeling to Dutchess/Westchester/Putnam counties, especially at night. Boo!

    Re: Your Halloween/Samhain traditions

It's still up in the nineties down here, but it's nice at night. Was out in the yard tonight and the bats were out hunting.

It's been fun and interesting reading about what you all do for Halloween.
