    Lightbulb Flashes Storage

This may sound like a completely non-traditional way to store your flashes (and may not be a good long-term solution), but after receiving my first pair of flashes, and seeing the curl that sometimes pops up, I decided I needed something to keep them flat. Nothing against a good ole' fashioned iron, but I don't like ironing a shirt, much less a small piece of fabric bound to my calf with elastic. I took an old book and placed the trailing end of the flashes between the pages with the garters hanging out. When I pull them out, they're nice & crisp and ready to smoothly stay in place. While this may not work for large collections, it might work wonderfully in a hotel, using the trip's reading material, quite nicely without too much fuss. My flashes are navy blue, but light-colored flashes may require a piece of tissue to ensure there are no ink smudges, depending on the book. I know we have a book binder & librarian(s) here on the forum, if they might chime in to let me know about any adverse effects that might come about due to this method, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, please let me know of any other methods any of the rabble has come across to keep their flashes neat & tidy.

    Re: Flashes Storage

Someone once suggested I use my tartan flashes as bookmarks.

To be fair, though, I asked what to do with them because I wasn't going to use them anymore.

I think Riverkilt uses index cards for his, if I remember correctly.

Aye, put a large index card in a small zip lock plastic bag and put the flashes in the bag. The card helps them lay flat, not get squished, and make it a bit easier to see the tartan against the white card.

Used to clip them on the hanger with the kilt, now toss them in a drawer reserved for flashes since I'm almost always using garter ties now.

Using them for book marks is a great idea!

    Re: Flashes Storage

I have 2 methods for storing flashes:

    1. Cut a piece of cardboard of some other suitable stiff material approx the size of your calf. Attach the flashes as if they're being worn, and hang the whole thing in the closet.

    2. Store them flat, stacked on one another in a box or something similar. (That's how mine are right now)
