    Re: Autumn

The apple trees are so laden this year, I have bags full of them, and the trees are still groaning under the weight of fruit - as they are not a keeping sort I'll have to freeze or ferment them before they go rotten. I can't give them away - everyone has had a massive crop this year.

It's the same here in the Northeast US. The wild apple trees, the black walnuts, the currant vines - and every other fruit-bearing plant you can think of! - are bent over towards the ground with the massive crop of fruit.

The deer are going to be big and fat this season...!

Just as Woodsheal says, my apple tree and black walnut tree went crazy this year.In addition to pies and applesauce, I borrowed a cider press and put away a bunch of cider. Five gallons of it are in my beer fermenter right now. The bubbling just stopped, so I'll bottle it this weekend.

    Re: Autumn

Opening a Possman's Apfelwein and going in to pluck "Wild Mountain Thyme" on guitar in Lady and Robert's honour, even though metro Chicago is not particularly wild and flat as a table and has no thyme growing, here.

    Enjoy!
