That is some drinking logic your friend has there bubba. I have to admit that I don't really drink heavily that often. I am a 2 pint pub social drinker with friend most of the time. But come Kilt Night or any other event where I am out for the night I get into it pretty good. Usually no more than once a month. I have learned over time where my limit is and I try to stay within that limit. It just hurts to much the next day if I go way over board.
I am acually pertty good with the booze considering I am a Sailor. Not to stereotype the people in my line of work, but we do have a big number of drinkers in the occupation. I have seen how abuse of a substains can distroy a Man, so I make sure it never gets ahold of me. As Men we choose the path we walk and we control where we end up, not anyone else!
Andrew makes it sound like the big sailor that can party his butt off. He is for kilts night, but when we meet during the week Andrew is the person most likely to have one pint and switch to water. Mind you we usually meet near my place, so I can walk whereas he has to drive.
I find myself drinking less and less these days. I have two young children that wake up at 7am (latest) and don't care if I tied one on the night before. So I have been going fairly easy even at kiltsnight (with the exception of the last one).
