from Oklahoma!
I do not own a Stillwater, but since you asked... The straps on a kikt should offer about 2, maybe 3, inches from the smallest to the largest. Given what you have said about your measurements, if it wete me, i would split the difference and go with that. Having said that, i measure with a "snug" measuring tape and my wool kilt fits perfectly when worn in the middle hole. I took the measurement a few times for my waist and got the same number though...

Hi antgrippi,
Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.
My advice would be to go to your nearest kilt hire place and try one on. With the buckles done up it should stay up by itself. When you find one that is comfortable - that's your size.
Regards
Chas

from the wooded hills of north central Tennessee!
As others have said, most kilts are adjustable to at least two to three inches. It is easier to take a too large one in however than to let a too small one out: "If it ain't too small, its just right."

Re: New, from PA
Measure your true waist carefully. I bought a Stillwater thrifty that was too big and I wasn't very happy with it. I had to add Velcro to the waist. I did not like the acrylic either so I wound up selling it
Not sure where in PA you live but I would recommend getting measured and fit by Rocky at USAKilts in Spring City. My first kilts were from him and Amerikilt where owner Michael Butler fit me into one at an Irish fest.

Warm greeting to another Keystone stater.
I agree with what Woodsman said. if you can get to Rocky's shop you can guarantee you will get fitted properly, or go to an event that Amerikilts is at.
Just remember that kilts are like potato chips - you can't stop at just one!

Re: New, from PA
A warm Scottish welcome from middle England.
I'd second going to a hire place, somewhere you can try one or get measured. It's not just a question of waist size but what height you feel comfortable wearing it and consequently what length to choose. If it winds up a little loose it won't fall off, but may rotate and it's better to get it right first time than having to alter buckles and or straps afterwards.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
