Re: Howdy from Arkansas, y'all
First, welcome from Oklahoma City. I make it out to Little Rock a couple times of year for work, i like jogging along the river walk downtown.
Second, if you are looking for stories, you have come to the right place. The issue of cold temps is surprisingly NOT an issue. Worn with hose, I have shoveled my driveway in the middle of our coldest winter here in OKC.
I woukd suggest you wear your kilt around the house often. It is worth the practice to make sure you are comfortable in a kilt. Then you will avoid many of the potential pitfalls.
Again,

Hello Earl,
Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.
My best advice is this - Learn how to sit comfortably without flashing.

Re: Howdy from Arkansas, y'all
Greetings from Mid Missouri,
Welcome and enjoy your new found freedom. Learn to sit properly and wear your kilt daily doing all your normal activities. I started by wearing my Elkommandos every day on my walk to work. Then it was time to don my pub kilts for .. the pub,,, I get some stares, some smiles and even some very attractive women saying nice things to me... Enjoy

Re: Howdy from Arkansas, y'all
I started out just wearing my to Scottish events. Then added pubs for dinner with my wife, then to church. I still get some 'looks' here in central Texas, but most folks are fine with it. You certainly get to meet some interesting people when your wearing a kilt, because they will come right up to.

Re: Howdy from Arkansas, y'all
You guys are great. I see y'all are from all over; that's so cool. I take it from some of the "watch out for flashing" remarks that such sage advice might come from (oops) experience? lol. It made me go googling and I found a nice little video on http://www.kiltrentalusa.com/see-our-videos website where they instruct their renters about how to sit in a kilt and such...all I can say is thank goodness for that 'cause I was gonna be doing it all wrong, I'm sure. I'm loving your remarks, y'all, and thanks so much for the warm welcome.

Welcome GreenEyedMonster to xmarksthescot from Little Rock.
Just to let you know, a bunch of us Central Arkansas Kilt Enthusiasts meet once a month in Little Rock or North Little Rock. Get in touch with RonnieMac13 and T.C.McRae V, both xmarksers, for our next meeting in November.

Re: Howdy from Arkansas, y'all
Hello and welcome from the Texas tundra.
First, what kind of kilt do you have? Wool? PV? Synthetic? Utility?
I'm surprised no one has asked that you dont wear your kilt during Halloween as a costume. It kind of makes us look bad. If your just walking with the kids, great, I'll probably be wearing mine in that role.
There is a lot to learn. Read, read and read some more. I highly recommend Matt Newsome's website http://www.albanach.org. He has a lot of great info in his website and on his blog.
If you have any specific questions this is a great place or you can PM any of us.
Somebody ought to.

Re: Howdy from Arkansas, y'all
A warm Scottish welcome from middle England. From experience, no problem staying warm in a kilt in the snow unless there is a strong accompanying wind lifting the kilt increasing the wind chill factor.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
