Just like another pair of pants ?.....
Like the majority of men on the planet, I've worn trousers most of my life. I pretty much take it for granted and don't think much about it. I don't find menswear particularly flattering, interesting or fun to wear for that matter. Maybe I'm not suppose to. My wife has commented in the past that she doesn't think alot of the clothes that she wears are particularly special either. For me, wearing a kilt has been THE big exception to the monotony of my wardrobe. So, for those that wear only kilts or wear kilts most of the time, does the novelty wear off? Does it become mundane? My hats off to the full time kiltees, but for me, I guess I fear that it might make wearing kilts just like another pair of pants.

Well, I haven't been wearing kilts very long, but I wear them almost all the time now. So far I find myself amused that other men don't know what they're missing as far as comfort. It really isn't a big deal to me anymore but it'll never be as confining as wearing a pair of pants.

Blu, dunno if the novelty has worn off, but it doesn't take any extra thought to just strap a kilt on instead of putting jeans on. In fact, I find that I wind up spending more time fighting with my jeans than putting my kilt and everything else on. I gotta second Bubba's comment about being amused at how other guys haven't discovered the comfort of a kilt and some probably never will. That said, the kilt is a part of me and I'm unlikely to change back, unless whatever job I get requires pants. Just like how longer hair is a part of me.

Same here. I'm also thinking it's way too early for the novelty to wear off for me, though I'm wearing kilts as often as I can. I must admit that I was a bit nervous the first time I went out in public with a kilt, but that has long since worn off (the nervousness, not the kilt). I think I'll always have fun wearing my kilt as long as I know I'm raising a few eyebrows around town. Wearing one just around the house doesn't give me much sense of fun, but it's still preverable to trousers.

Whilst I too am relatively new at daily kilting, I find myself more an more comfortable with myself and the community while in a kilt.
I find that I am less self-conscious, it's like I sometimes even forget I have a kilt on and wonder why people are staring at me - well, almost.
But that is very different to the novelty wearing off.
It's a valid question Blu, but the kilt is SO special that i doubt whether wearing it will ever become boring.
Only today I was working in shorts, sitting at a computer and I felt very uncomfortable, my vitals were feeling so cramped that I just had to rip the shorts off as quick as i could and put a kilt on. (no, I was in the office alone!!)
The feeling of freedom in a kilt is now so much a part of me that I really feel uneasy in anything else.
I certainly would not want to wear long trousers again, shorts are a bit of a compromise for certain situations.
On the topic of shorts, I still find it strange, even bizarre that in Australia, shorts are so accepted as normal dress and don't attract a second thought, whereas a kilt is such a strange thing!
All that seperates the two is a bit of stitching between the legs, but a world of difference exists in terms of acceptance.
Who can understand that??

Blu,
As one of the few who have foresaken trousers entirely - for me, it'll be five years come May 15th - I have to say that kilt-wearing has not become 'everyday' or boring, nor can I foresee the day when it will.
I still get a huge buzz out of deciding what kilt to wear, putting it on and then getting out there to face the world. Some guys will tell you that, after a while, they are no longer aware that they are wearing a kilt instead of trousers, but I am always conscious that I am dressed differently - and I enjoy that!

While reading this thread, i came to the realization that I have worn a kilt everyday this week. I actually (unconciously) reached past the pants and grabbed a kilt for the last five days..
Cheers,
Allen

all day every day
Me too by tomorrow morning I will have been kilted 24/7, including a 21st party I'm going to tonight. Even my boss, who has been a bit ambiguous to kilts smiled the other day when I turned up in one she hadn't seen before.
Cheers Rhino
She won't be so happy if she catches me on the works computer, on this forum. Better go

Well Ham, starting each and every day the way you do must be pretty special... life probably doesn't get much better than that. 8)
