Sporran by necessity
When my brother and I first went oot & aboot kilted, he coined a phrase new to me.
When a notable member of the fairer sex crossed our path (at Baylor U. in Texas, they are numerous), he referred to her as a "kilt lifter."
At our store in Northern California, we have a few like that each day. That's why I wear a sporran.
The 'Urban Fanny' pack from Arc'teryx makes a good 'sport' sporran: http://www.arcteryx.com/noflash/acce...cessories.html
I chose it because the buckle is on the side of the bag, instead of middle of my back (annoying when driving).
It adjusts quickly for high or low ride, the zipper is easy and there's a flat pocket just right for my Pocket Briefcase wallet. It did start to wear a bit on the nylon of my Mtn Kilt, though, after every day wear of about a month.
I'm not sure if wear is completely avoidable, really, no matter what the materials are.
