Likes and Thanks?

Would it be possible add a "like" or "thank" function to the forum? This would be similar to the way the "like" function works on Facebook and I believe I have seen the same feature on some other forums.

Sometimes I read a thread or a post that I'd like to give a quick, positive acknowledgement to, without necessarily having to post a full written response...

I've sometimes thought that too. I believe I read that there is a technical transition afoot; maybe? It might prevent me having to wade through five or six "new posts" that say just that in order to avoid missing content.

You can rate the thread....look at the horizontal blue line at the top of the thread. There is a "button" you can click for Rate the thread. Let's you assigned stars to the thread.

Not the same thing. vBulletin boards allow you to utilize a "Thanks" feature either below the original post in a thread only, or any post within the thread, depending on how it is set. This feature is turned on within the Administrator Control Panel settings.

The member names who thanked a post are displayed below it when that button is clicked.

That is the status quo...

I think it would be an improvement to the functionality of the forum to allow a different way of interacting. Sometimes I would prefer to simply "like" or "thank" someone without creating a post that doesn't really contribute to the thread.
