Which tartan to wear?

No battles fought here Mike and I'm certainly not picking a fight with you, I am quite light enough thank you... You can use whatever idioms you choose but just so you know my direction. This particular one isn't 'oft used' by me! I don't like the mis-use of the word and I don't like it trivialised by figurative use either. It is offensive to me.

Well if the word is that offensive to you, I will edit it out for your sake. God knows we don't need to bring the clan wars back.

I guess in the States it's used more often than not. I myself use this idiom often and, as pointed out by English Bloke, it probably is quite offensive to some.

Your a Scot man wear damg well what you please. You might like to honor a fellow and ask to where his tartan, or use a Distric tartan, there are many to look at for one the gets your eye...
