I think my description and photos dont do justice to the colour of the vest. This is not a suede as I may have said earlier but really a soft brushed leather. It is skin smooth and soft. The colour is a rich chocolate brown, not the redish, orange brown of the 60's 70's Peter Fonda suede vests. The photo of the button shoes the true color. It by far is a well made piece of quality leather that doesnt have the discoloration of lesser suede. It also has a nice fit, not loose like the old suede vests. This could easily have been wool and looked good too, but the dark leather adds to the earthtone causal look. I have my Stillwater Standard Weathered MacKenzie on which is one of my favorite kilts for casual pub wear. I wouldnt wear this with my German Heritage tartan "tank" that I reserve for dress but it does go well for a classier casual look, buttoned with a bolo tie or un-buttoned. And I agree, the lapels add a nice look as does the cut of the whole garment. I did luck out with a last minute bid on this piece.
