Tartan of the month - November: What do yo see?

My first go at this but are we looking at some tartan remnant, protected under glass as its a historical garment of some kind possibly retrieved from a battle site such as Culloden or Killiecrankie?
My guess would be some sort of breeches?

I see the seams of a jacket or coat with the arm missing. by the constuction of it with the seam under the armhole it is most likely post 1840. I would also say the treads are most likely industrial dyed.

A good guess. Wrong garment but right provenance.
