New Member from the Rocky Mtns of Colorado
Greetings from a new member to this forum. I've enjoyed reading the many threads and finally took the plunge and would like to introduce myself.
I'm a retired high school principal, and shop teacher, from a small town in a high mountain valley of south/central Colorado. I am of Scotish ancestory, my grandmother was a Cameron, and have other connections as well. I purchased my first kilt a few months ago and have yet to wear it. I've recently had knee surgery and I want to wait until the hair grows back on my knee before I venture out. I'll let you know when it happens.
I've been a living historian doing presentations from the Fur Trade/Mountain Man era through the Civil War and up to the late Indian Wars. Consequently, I'm commonly seen wearing Indian deerskin leggin's and a loin cloth, so, graduating to a kilt should be no big deal. I've dealt with many of the same questions about the loin cloth as you lads do about the kilt, and do so in much the same manner.
I'm also on the Honor Guard for the American Legion (I'm an Air Force veteran from the late 60's) and look forward to participating in a military funeral in my US Air Force tartan kilt!! We'll be burying an Air Force veteran next week, but, I don't think my knee will be ready yet--one knee bald and one knee hairy, I don't know!!
Jackson, Alamosa, Colo.

Welcome fellow Coloradoan!
You know, you could have just shaved your other leg to match...
My father in-law is also involved in the Mountain Man society. Do you attend any of the various Rendezvous in Colorado or Wyoming? He's also a kilt-wearer and late 60's Air Force vet.
Maybe you're actually him! Did you move and not tell us?

Probably not him, I've been here for quite a while. LOL. Be interesting to meet some time, however. I don't do much of the Rendezvous stuff any more, so, like a true Free Trapper, I just do my own thing and do first person programs for whoever asks--mostly schools, church groups, state parks, Great Sand Dunes National Park, etc. Every time I think that charactor is finished, he gets called out of "retirement".
I thought about shaving the other leg, but, voted against it.
