Does being a kiltie make you a "clothes horse"?

How indeed could somebody not choose what they wore?
I suppose one could go into a clothing store and tell the salesperson "give me $100 worth of random clothes in such-and-such a size".
Does anyone actually do that?

I see people out in public every day that certainly look like they did just that.

Actually, thinking about this a bit more, $100 nowadays probably wouldn't get you much. Maybe a couple of shirts, some slacks and a few accessories. I was thinking it would be even MORE interesting to do it with like $200, or even $500. The latter would probably be best here in Japan. (Yeah it's expensive here).

Yes, but they have to work harder to make you look good for $100. I'd take a flyer on $100 for a giggle, but beyond that, I'd want a good return policy!

I've noticed a change in my overall sense of sartorial choices since taking up kilt-wearing. And I blame all of you for it!

She jokingly calls me a "clothes horse", which (if you are unfamiliar with the term) according to Wikipedia "refers to a person excessively or obsessively interested in clothes, often to a humorous extent".

Maybe I am! But is that a bad thing? Do you folks receive similar comments from your significant others?

I've also notice that being a kilt wearer has sharpened my overall sartorial sensibilities. And I thank you all for it!

I asked my lass if I am a clothes horse and she said "no," because she still has far more clothes than me. Not that I think being a clothes horse is such a bad thing.

Having appropriate clothing for all occasions is socially useful, not mention a question of survival in some climates. Having a surplus of options may not be necessary, but I see clothing as a kind of expression. If I have clothes beyond what utility requires, it is because they have become a bit like different colours of paint for a painter...

To the original query, in this instance, kilting can make one more exploratory /adventureous in choice of attire and even serve as stimulus for amusement, cameraderie, education, thereon.

Taking kilting to the thread of '...10 different looks," the words, "fun, experimenting, trying new looks, exploring,new experiences," come to mind.

As an infrequent Kilt wearer I tend to select items that coordinate, easy done because I buy them for that purpose in the first place. The kilt itself is one thing, anything I wear with it will be solid colour and neutral enough to be inoffensive. However, If I have a ghillie, there will be socks and flashes to go with it (not matching each other necessarily but certainly coordinating). If I am going smart, choices are fewer and convention dictates these.

This is no more or less considered than any other smart or casual aspect of my wardrobe.
