Unfortunately I was a bit pushed for time and forgot to find out whether the kilt was made of a single 8 yard piece, so the weaving sequence would run ordinary sett for 1st front panel/special sett for pleating/ordinary sett for 2nd front panel, or 3 separate pieces of 2 ordinary setts for the front panels and the special sett for pleating joined together.
Further to my post of 27th March: I telephoned The Kilt Centre yesterday and spoke with a very helpful lady who sounded very busy! Firstly, I was able to confirm with her that their 'Saltire' kilt is, indeed, the one that Darius wore when he sang "Flower of Scotland" prior to the Rugby International ten days ago.
I also ascertained that the Saltire design is woven into the fabric and is not 'printed' or 'stencilled'. It appears only on the facing side of each pleat - not on the hidden or in side.
The Company has taken over 350 orders for this kilt in just over one week! The price is £365 (approximately US$672) ........... I am currently debating as to whether I should order one for my collection.
go on ham, get one. you know you want it.it's the dogs bollocks that kilt.
