Re: kilt hose for, um, shorter lads
Okay, here are the pics.
Total length on my leg. (using a garter to demonstrate the focal point of folding, I usually wear them shorter, but I figured having a little more flash to see would be better for this demonstration)

Close up

Then I fold it down and back up. (actually, while holding the cuff up, I push down and around with my thumbs over the garter. this permits me to fold it the same length all around my calf... Notice the flashes)

Then I fold it back down and adjust it to match the other hose.

Tadam...
EDIT: Man, I'm hairy..... And white......

I also noticed that depending on the style of hose, I do not fold the same way.
The Lewis and the Rannoch are not the same length in the cuff.

Re: kilt hose for, um, shorter lads
I am 'sitting' on a ton of kilt hose!!!
This thread reminds me - I am clearing out the last bit of Highland dress accessories that I have simply lost interest in, or do not wear any longer. I will be posting a new thread in the 'for sale' section on the forum, with the hopes of selling off many pairs (if not all of them) of kilt hose in which I have purchased in the past few years. The colours I have to offer are Lovat blue, Lovat green, fawn (oatmeal), black, navy, charcoal, and light to mid grey. All are size small, 4-ply thickness, simple and understated, but well-made by Gaelic Themes. I have around 7-8 pairs per colour, and they are all in very, very good condition - practically brand new, with many of them only being worn once or twice, and some haven't been worn at all! I shall create the new thread shortly, complete with photos, pricing and other pertinent details. Remember, don't let the size small fool you, I am 5' 10" and wear a size US 10.5 shoe.
The reason why I purchased size small for the kilt hose (and still do, with the exception of bespoke evening hose), was because the medium size was much too long, and the hose turnover was too high up on my leg. The size small, allows the turnover to be around a two to three finger width below the kneecap, allowing a nice space between your legs and the bottom edge of the kilt, which is ideally the look you want. The foot size of the hose fit my feet fine and have always looked great!
Thanks gents,
