Women's Shawls

I am not sure where to put this question. I bought my Lady a tartan triangular shawl (Scott Green). Do any of the Ladies out there know how it should be worn? Would a broach be appropriate to wear with it? Is there any other way to wear it other than just draped over the shoulders?
Any help will be appreciated.

The short answer is: any way she'd like to wear it. Tie it, pin it with a brooch, wear it 'round the waist...

If it were me, I'd twist it up, wrap it around my neck loosely, twice, and attach it with a kilt pin or broach, letting the ends hang down a few inches, kind of making it into an infinity scarf, which is popular now.

The hip sashes are a good look too, especially with a knee length solid skirt and coordinating turtleneck.

My wife wears hers over her shoulders and usually tied at the front. She has been known to use one of my fly plaid brooches to pin it together for a slightly more formal look. She once tied it in front, but then rotated it through 90 degrees so that the knot was on her right shoulder and it hung like a cape over her left. She called it her "Bandido" look. I didn't question.

Try not to have the shawl/stole brought up all the way to the neck, but drape it loosely across the back of the shoulders. When it is brought up to the neck, it can tend to look dowdy and grandmother-ish.

Depending on the weight, she can also wear it over one shoulder and pin it with a brooch at the opposite hip a bit toward the front. If it is lighter weight fabric, she can also reverse the entire stole and tie it loosely at the back of the neck or secure it with a brooch to create a 'cowl' look. That's especially beautiful if she wears her hair up.

Most of all, tell her to enjoy wearing it!
