I've been watching the DVD replay of season 1. Does anyone know what tartan Duncan wears. I know that for the 'stars' they actually created a Monarch of the Glen tartan but I haven't been able to get a good look at Duncan's to see which one it is.

I have tried to sit down and watch the last 4 Sundays. However one of the kids is usually in the pre-bedtime prime and it would be impossible to hear anything. I did manage to see Duncan in his kilt though. Maybe next week...

Blast! foiled again. My wife left for a girls weekend in Victoria with a friend that has been battling breast cancer. So this left me with the kids (3 year old son and 1 year old daughter). Then low and behold my parents came a picked up my son wanting a sleep over. This left me alone with my daughter on Sunday night. Now since she usually falls asleep at 7 pm I would have the quiet opportunity to watch Monarch of the Glen.
But alas, I got distracted and totally fogot about the show. Not a total lose though, I got to hang out with my little girl, and I watched Whale Rider after she fell asleep.
Maybe next week I'll just set the VCR and watch at a later date.

I love Monarch!
I started watching it a few months ago, and the station I watch is a little behind in the series. Archie and Lexie are about to get married.
Duncan. What a great guy, although as was mentioned earlier, his choices of shirts and jumpers is pretty bad. He did have a nice Aran sweater on in one episode.
I'm still wondering why Archie wears those ugly trews when the other guys wear kilts to the formal functions. Trews.....yuck!

I heard about "Monarch Of The Glen" on this forum and my family got me the DVD of season one for my birthday. I'm hooked, but now I feel stranded. I'm "uncabled" and they don't have any more discs out yet! This is worse than a "kilt jones" cause it can't be scratched!

Jamie,
Try the PBS station in PDX. My local PBS station shows it here, which is lucky for me, since I can't afford satellite for BBCAmerica.

Rufus, thanks for the thought, but OPB doesn't carry Monarch yet. We're members and we keep watching the guides and suggesting that they pick up Monarch when we get questionaires. They show several entertaining "Britcoms" on Saturday night but no Monarch episodes yet.

Monarch Season 2 DVD is due out in May in US, middle of the month but I can't remember exactly. They have more seasons on DVD's from Amazon UK BUT they will not play on US DVD players. Thought about getting one and running it on the computer. My Linux systems has a 'changable' zone so "in theory" I could play it and rip and burn for US. Call your local PBS and promise them money if they carry it...who knows.

LOVE the show! I personally like Duncan's shack. Now that's the ultimate non-conformist bachelor pad if I've ever seen one!
As for the tartan, maybe we should see if it's (oh, I don't know) the Duncan tartan?!

Holy crud! I actually have this one in stock! Think I'll be making this one on Saturday!
