More new goodies!
I've been on a roll lately, picking up new stuff to wear with my kilt(s).
This time, it is another lovely tweed jacket and some new neckties.
First, the jacket. I got this on eBay from Clunie Classics (Scotland). It's a vintage tartan tweed jacket, made by Hugh MacPherson, Edinburgh. I'll be honest: I am in love with this jacket. I love everything about it. The colours, the cut and fit, and the overall effect. The level of complexity it adds is simply fabulous, don't you think?
I'm wearing it with an el-cheapo kilt that I dislike, but only because my good kilt is out for repairs (more on that later, in a separate thread).

And my new neckties. I found these at Nordstrom "Rack". They are all made by Robert Talbott for Nordstrom. They caught my eye because they look like regimental ties. And lo and behold, when I turned them over and looked at the tags, they are labeled Old Highlanders 42nd, Old Brightonians, and Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders. The stripes are running the wrong direction to be authentic regimental ties, and I'm glad of that. I couldn't resist buying them, as I think they look just smashing, either with a kilt or trousers.

*edited to add:
Jeez, looking at these pictures, I'm reminded of why I like "chunky" hose. These are some cheap, thin hose I'm wearing in the pictures. They make my legs look like popsickle sticks. I think these will be officially retired as kilt hose, and I need to order some more House of Cheviot hose (Lewis style).

Awesome Tobus... very classic look... even with the "el-cheapo" kilt.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

I like the tie you are wearing with your new jacket. They both look good.

I agree 100% about the jacket. That is just lovely and adds a whole level of visual interest and texture to the outfit.
I think your hose are just fine, by the way (though I can't fault you for wanting more House of Cheviot hose!) :-)

You are on a roll, eh? That jacket is epic and I applaud you for putting it all together so nicely, despite your dislike of the cheap hose and kilt. I don't think I'm quite ready for that much pattern but it looks sharp on you!

Can I tell you how envious I am of all these great deals you're getting and this wardrobe that you're building?? I just bid on a black Argyll jacket last night on eBay. It's hard to find something in my size (44R) on ebay that is reasonably priced...pretty high demand for that size.

I know it does look off, but if you look at the old pictures no one really had thick cuffs to their hose.
My favorite hose are very thin, on anyone else they would probably just look like socks, but on my calves (probably as large as 90% of xmarks population) they look ok.

I'm with you, in terms of both envy and frustration. I can wear a broad-shouldered 42 or a thin 44 but it seems everyone else can, too. And it also seems that everyone else has more money than I do! (I can assure you that I won't drive up the Argyll, since I recently acquired my own.)
Tobus: I love it! I didn't think I would have wanted something that boldly patterned, but seeing it worn (and worn so well!) really changes my outlook. Congratulations!
